Background:

The new regulations were developed after careful review of the 2016 Food Truck Survey results [PDF - 48 KB], as well as consultation with City of Courtenay staff, the Downtown Courtenay Business Improvement Association, and the Comox Valley Chamber of Commerce.

Over 1,000 people completed the City of Courtenay food truck survey, which closed on March 11, 2016. 95 percent of survey respondents declared their support for increasing food truck opportunities in the city.

At the Courtenay City Council Meeting on Monday, May 16, 2016, Courtenay Council voted to pass first, second, and third reading of "Business Licence Amendment Bylaw 2847, 2016” – a bylaw with proposed new food truck regulations in the City of Courtenay.
