Online Tax Payments

Paying your property taxes online through your financial institution is fast, easy, and convenient. Here’s the step-by-step process.

Step 1: To make a property tax payment, you need:

  • online access to pay bills through your financial institution
  • the 9-digit folio number from your Property Tax Notice

Step 2: Once you have your folio number, log on to the online banking website of your financial institution.

Step 3: Proceed to the Bill Payment option.

Step 4: Add the City of Courtenay as a payee. (Find your financial institution’s payee name for the City of Courtenay in the table below.)

Step 5: Use your folio number as the account number. Insert zeros to complete the beginning of the number if necessary. Most online banking programs will not accept the period character that separates the first 6 digits from the last 3. If yours won’t accept the character, simply omit it.

Step 6: Once the City of Courtenay is set up as a payee, select the “Pay Bills” option provided by your financial institution and make a payment on your tax account.

Step 7: The confirmation number/code issued by your financial institution serves as your confirmation that payment will be made per your request. No receipt will be issued by the City of Courtenay for online payments.
