Comox Valley Water Treatment Project

Via the Comox Valley Regional District:

Did you know that a new water treatment plant for the Comox Valley water system is under development? The Comox Valley water system includes the City of Courtenay.

Elected officials are taking a leadership role and have directed Comox Valley Regional District (CVRD) staff to move forward with the design of a new filtration plant that will meet the province’s surface water treatment requirements and eliminate turbidity related boil water notices in the future.

Construction of the water treatment plant will begin in 2018, which will be fully operational by 2020. The total cost of upgrading our water system is estimated around $106 million.  Provincial and federal grants will help offset these costs.
