Simms Concert Series - Chris Hansen and the Lunchbox Legends
The free Simms Park Summer Concert series season kicks off on Father’s Day with the roots and soul music of Chris Hansen and the Lunchbox Legends this Sunday, June 17 at 7 pm.
Chris’s guitar styles and soul searching songwriting will at times stir your emotions, lift your spirits and engage your rhythm button. The roots of his writing stem from social issues and world changing events that have an effect on us all. The Lunch Box Legends with their own styles and influences provide the synergy that gives the music and the band its distinct and unique musical flavour.
You’ll hear the music from their CD Compassionate Visitor that has its roots in the heartfelt songwriting of Chris Hansen (vocals, guitar), enhanced by the travels of renowned violinist and horn maestro Blaine Dunaway (chin cello, violin, flugelhorn), the steady creative bass lines of Bruce Wing (bass, flute, mandolin), Steve Ruskin's signature rhythms on the keyboard (keyboards , harmonica), percussive grooves of Jordan King, frayed on the edges with the award winning and talented Judy Wing's soulful vocals (vocals, accordion).
Simms Millennium Park is located by the 5th Street Bridge and across from Lewis Park. Please bring your own lawn chair or blanket.
Other featured Simms Park performances on Sundays at 7pm include Duo of Duos on June 24, Georgia Strait Big Band on July 8, Zandhunga on July 22, CYMC on July 29, Songwriters Circle on August 12, The Olsen Bros Band on August 19, and Pure Petty on August 26.
