Mayor Larry Jangula Extends Thanks for Storm Preparations

From City of Courtenay Mayor Larry Jangula:

“Last week’s storms were thankfully less intense than forecasted. The City of Courtenay worked closely with BC Hydro, other Comox Valley local governments, the Comox Valley Emergency Program, and Emergency Management BC to coordinate storm preparations and ensure we were as prepared as we could possibly be. The storms did not result in any major damage in our community.

On behalf of Courtenay City Council, I extend my thanks and appreciation to everyone involved in the storm preparations, including our own City of Courtenay staff who worked very hard to set up flood barriers, make and distribute sandbags, monitor culverts and catch basins, and keep the community informed, throughout the week and over the weekend. I’d also like to thank the community for doing their part by following updates, and taking steps to prepare their own homes in advance of the forecasted storms.

It was truly a team effort, a community effort. We were lucky this time. Rest assured, our hard work won’t go to waste; it will help streamline the response to any future storms over the coming winter. Thank you. “
