5th Street Bridge Evening Lane Closures on Wednesday April 26

There will be single-lane closures on the 5^th Street bridge in the evening of Wednesday, April 26, while contractors wash and inspect the bridge structure. Expect single-lane alternating traffic on the 5^th Street bridge beginning at 8:00 pm, and continuing until around 11:00 pm.

There will be some noise associated with the cleaning, including generator noise. The work is being conducted in the evening to minimize impacts on the travelling public.  Both sidewalks will remain open for pedestrians.

Why is the bridge being washed?

Cleaning infrastructure such as bridges helps prolong the life of the structure, removing salt and sand that may have collected over the winter months and reducing the potential for corrosion.
