Emergency Preparedness

COMOX VALLEY EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM

Are you ready?
After a major disaster, it is probable that regular Emergency Services will not be able to respond for an estimated 72 hours.

Why do I need to WORRY?
It is vital that you and your neighbours are able to rely on each other. Experience shows that after a major disaster your most reliable source of help is your neighbours. This is especially true if you have prepared beforehand. Once your neighbourhood is prepared, you will be able to help each other in a real way to cope with emergency situations. Unlike fire or crime, there is nothing we can do to prevent a natural disaster from happening. WE CAN BE PREPARED for it when it does happen.

How can I HELP?
Join the Comox Valley Neighbourhood Emergency Preparedness Program and learn how to prepare yourself, family and neighbourhood to know what to do in an emergency. As a member of your Neighbourhood Team, you will learn about:

  • Neighbourhood Organization
  • Personal Preparedness
  • Fire Suppression
  • Survival First Aid
  • Light Urban Rescue
  • Damage Assessment
  • Community Preparedness

If you want to join the team or learn more about this exciting project, call the Coordinator for your area or the NEPP Office at 334-8890.
