Emergency Preparedness Kits

Are you prepared?

Experience has shown that after a natural disaster many individuals and neighbourhoods are left on their own for at least 72 hours. Although there is nothing that can be done to prevent a natural disaster, you can prepare now to survive during the emergency and during the next 72 hours.

Basic Preparation includes:

  • Water
  • Battery Operated Radio
  • Blankets
  • Food
  • Clothing/shelter
  • First Aid

Hazards: Secure items in your home or office. Interruptions to normal services are likely. Gather your family and neighbours together to develop a plan; it could save your life and the lives of those around you.

Emergency Preparedness Kits

The Courtenay and Comox Fire Departments have teamed up to assist the community with emergency preparedness. The fire departments are offering for sale a variety of Emergency Preparedness Kits. The kits come in several different sizes and prices. For those who would like to build their own kits the fire departments can supply you with a suggested list of items you should consider placing in your kits.

Please help yourself and get PREPARED. For more information or to view the kits please visit either Courtenay or Comox Fire Station. You may also call Kurt MacDonald @ 334-2513 or Gord Schreiner @ 339-2432
