Cycling in the Comox Valley

The City of Courtenay, Town of Comox, Village of Cumberland and the Comox Valley Regional District have joined forces to promote cycling and improve cycling routes throughout the Comox Valley.

The goal is to encourage people to consider cycling as a viable transportation method, as well as to coordinate, prioritize and develop bikeways in all of the local government areas.

There is still much work to be done, but with no shortage of enthusiasm, momentum is building! The Comox Valley Cycling Task Force and the new Cycling Public Advisory Committee are hard at work to improve cycling in the Comox Valley.

Comox Valley Cycling Plan
In 2007, Landworks Consultants developed the Comox Valley Cycling Plan. This report is based on plenty of input from local cyclists of all ages and abilities. The goal of the Plan is to help make cycling a safer and more enjoyable experience throughout the Valley. Read the plan (PDF).

Cycling Public Advisory Committee - new!
The Cycling Public Advisory Committee was established in 2009 to act as an advisory body to the Comox Valley Cycling Task Force. They advocate for cycling issues in the Comox Valley, and make recommendations to the Cycling Task Force and specific jurisdictions on regional cycling issues. They communicate with the general public on cycling issues, concerns and suggestions. Find out more.

Comox Valley Cycling Task Force
The Cycling Task Force, established in 2007, is made up of members of all local governments working together to develop a comprehensive cycling strategy. Their goal is to improve cycling access in the Comox Valley, both recreationally and for commuting, and to improve safe travel for all members of the public and safe access to regional bikeways.
