Parks
Partners in parks
Courtenay has many beautiful parks which are used by residents on a daily basis. City Parks staff do a routine clean-up of each park, but cannot be there at all times. The only way to keep parks free of litter is to help pick it up. If you are walking through a park or along one of the City’s greenways, please pick up the garbage.
Parks can be a great asset to the City ... Pride in Parks can help keep them clean.

Dogs in Parks
The City of Courtenay has a bylaw which allows dogs in Lewis Park, but not in restricted areas of the Park. Dogs are to be kept on a leash and owners are to clean up after their dogs. Dog stations have been installed to assist in the clean-up. Other City Parks with play fields will have similar restricted areas identified. Dog owners are asked to assist the City in keeping parks clean and usable for other activities. For further information, contact the Community Services Department at 334-4441. Thank you for your cooperation.
Vandalism
Over $50,000 per year is spent to repair vandalism to City parks and recreation buildings. How do we stop it? The City of Courtenay - Community Services Department is looking for unique and creative ways to help reduce vandalism. Your suggestions would be appreciated. If we use your idea, you could receive a Courtenay Recreation gift certificate! Our thanks to C.O.P.S. (Citizens on Patrol) and the RCMP who assist the City in many ways.
Call 334-4441 to share your thoughts. If your neighbourhood is concerned, a meeting can be set up to discuss some solutions.
