Moved by McRae and seconded by Presley that the minutes of the regular Council meeting held April 16, 2007 be adopted.

Jennifer Brunn, CSRD Manager of Operations re: Water Education Partnership Program
Jennifer Brunn reviewed a new education campaign to raise awareness on the need to change water use habits in the Comox Valley, entitled “Water…Why Waste It?”

Moved by Jangula and seconded by Phelps that the following meetings during the 2007 summer period be cancelled:

.02 EAST COURTENAY TRAFFIC CALMING 360-20
Moved by Presley and seconded by Phelps that Council receive the report from the Director of Operational Services regarding two petitions received from residents in the Hobson Ave. and Hawk Drive area.

Moved by Leonard and seconded by Jangula that the East Courtenay Traffic Calming Group be requested to hold a public meeting regarding traffic calming issues in the East Courtenay area.

INCAMERA MTG
Moved by Theos and seconded by Presley that under the provisions of Section 90(1)(k) of the Community Charter, notice is hereby given that a Special In-Camera meeting closed to the public, will be held May 7, 2007 at the conclusion of the Regular Council Meeting.

PUTIAN CITY, FUJAN PROVINCE
Moved by McRae and seconded Leonard that Council participate in the signing of the memorandum of understanding for increasing cultural and economic ties with Putian City subject to Council’s approval of the document.

WATER CONSERVING FRONT LOADING WASHING MACHINES
Moved by McRae and seconded by Leonard that staff provide a report to Council regarding the viability and economic impact of requiring water conserving front loading washing machines for homes in the City.

Moved by Presley and seconded by McRae that “The 2007-2011 Financial Plan Bylaw No. 2496, 2007” pass first, second and third reading.
