      <title>Update on negotiations between the City of Courtenay and CUPE 556</title>
      <description>The City of Courtenay advises that its unionized staff, represented by CUPE 556, have voted to strike. The City has been in negotiations with CUPE 556 for several months, and through a mediator reached a tentative agreement on April 8, 2011. While City Council approved the mediated settlement, the Union advises that their membership rejected the settlement.
