Homeowner Grant
Residential property owners, who occupy their homes as a principal residence, may be entitled to a Northern and Rural Area Home Owner’s Grant Benefit of up to $770 for applicants under 65 years of age, and up to $1045 for those over age 65 or those that meet certain other criteria.
If eligible, please fill out and sign the grant application on the back of your tax notice. (Alternatively, a copy of the form is available for download below). This is particularly important if you are making payment through the mail, by fax at (250) 334-4241, or in the office after hours mail slot located in the main front doors at City Hall. This application must be completed each and every year that you are eligible and is due without penalty on July 3. Any unclaimed Home Owner Grants outstanding after July 3 are subject to a 10% penalty.
Please note that Financial Institutions are no longer accepting Home Owner Grants on the Collector's behalf, therefore they must be returned directly to City Hall.
Even if you are not making a payment, you may still claim the Home Owner Grant as noted above. Further information is available at City Hall.
