2011 Gil Peñalosa visit

The Comox Valley Cycling Task Force has released a summary report including recommendations from the recent visit of livability and active transportation expert Gil Peñalosa. In mid June Mr. Peñalosa visited the Comox Valley to share with the community opportunities for making the Comox Valley a more people friendly place.

Mr. Peñalosa and the 8-80 Cities consulting firm he directs, advises municipal, corporate and community leaders around the world on walking, cycling, public transport, and the promotion of public places. A series of events were organized including a public talk at Native Sons Hall and workshops with politicians, local government staff and organizations who are involved with active transportation and public places.

Sponsorship for Gil’s visit was provided through the Comox Valley Cycling Task Force and the Comox Valley Cycling Coalition.
