Changes to Curbside Recycling Program
You can now recycle milk cartons and tetra-paks through the curbside recycling program.
Every other week, place your recyclables in a blue box at the curb. The following items are accepted in the blue box:
- New! Tetra Packs and Gable End cartons, rinsed and flattened (such as milk and juice cartons)
- Plastics 1 - 7, including plastic milk jugs, rinsed with lids removed.
- Plastic bags and plastic wrap.
- Metal food containers , rinsed with labels removed
- Mixed Waste Paper & Bond Paper, including junk mail, envelopes and stationery. Shredded paper can be placed in a paper bag or cereal box to contain it. Please do not use a plastic bag.
- Newspaper & Magazines, including inserts
- Cardboard & Boxboard, remove plastic and waxed liners
- Absolutely NO styrofoam or glass
- Please do not place your recyclables into plastic bags. This creates a sorting issue at the depot. The only recyclable items that are accepted in a plastic bag are other plastic bags or film wrap. Other items that are bagged will be left curbside.
- It is acceptable to use a weight on the top of the recyclables in the blue box to contain the contents on windy days.
- Blue Box must not exceed 40 cm (16") deep and 16kg (35 lbs)
