City Hall Renovation wins Wood Design Award

The dramatic renovation of Courtenay City Hall, designed by architect Martin Hagarty, has won a prestigious Wood Design Award in the Western red cedar category from Wood WORKS! BC.

The jury described the project as "an astounding transformation, highlighting how Western red cedar can transform something so drab into something so beautiful."

Mayor Larry Jangula accepted the award on behalf of the City at the gala event at the Vancouver Convention Centre on March 5, 2012. Architect Martin Hagarty was recognized at the Courtenay City Council meeting on March 12, 2012.
