Commercial Toilet Rebate Amount Increased

Commercial property owners with old inefficient toilets and urinals could be collecting hundreds of dollars in rebates.

Courtenay City Council has approved an increase to the City of Courtenay’s commercial toilet rebate. For each toilet or urinal replaced under this program, applicants will receive $100, increased from the previous $75. Plus, while previously a property owner was limited to four rebates per installation address, that restriction has been removed.

Businesses must have replaced their 13 litre toilets with a high efficiency 4.8 litre or dual flush toilet to be eligible for the rebate. They also have the option to switch old 5.7 litre or greater flush urinals with high efficiency 1.9 litre urinals.

The rebate is available until the end of 2010 for City of Courtenay commercial property owners connected to the Comox Valley Water System. Applicants who received the old $75 rebate prior to the increase will be paid the difference.

Applicants will need to complete the Commercial Toilet Rebate application form and provide proof of purchase for the new fixture, as well as either a copy of their plumber’s receipt or an original City of Courtenay disposal receipt. These are obtained by dropping off old fixtures at the Public Works Yard at 1000 Piercy Avenue on Wednesdays between noon and 4:00 pm. Those wishing to drop off more than four toilets at a time will need to schedule in advance by calling 250-703-4865.
