Courtenay of Courtenay Adopts Corporate Climate Action Strategy

The City of Courtenay is making the issue of climate change a priority.

At the February 16, 2009 Council Meeting, Courtenay City Council approved the adoption of a Corporate Climate Action Strategy. This strategy proposes numerous actions that will lead to reduced energy consumption and emissions associated with municipal operations. The highest priorities will be to reduce energy consumption in the City's major facilities, as well as to reduce fuel consumed by the city fleet.

The issue of climate change has become a great concern, both to the City of Courtenay and its residents. The City is proud to be taking this important step towards getting its own "house in order".  The City has pledged to make its municipal operations carbon neutral by 2012, and looks forward to playing a leadership role in the community.
