The plans are the result of months of consultation with staff and user groups. While the design will continue to be tweaked over the coming weeks, the overall footprint has now been established.
Work on the project is scheduled to start in mid-August 2012, with project completion in mid-2013. The expansion on the west side will be built first. Once complete, work will commence on the northeast renovation, which will convert the existing weightroom and changerooms into other uses.
An information session on May 3, 2012 gave the general public the opportunity to view the plans, hear a presentation from the project manager, ask questions, and provide feedback on the design.
