PUBLIC NOTICE
OUTDOOR BURNING PROHIBITED
Please be advised that outdoor burning (also known as backyard burning) is now
prohibited year round within the boundaries of the City of Courtenay. This prohibition also includes campfires.
In the past, outdoor burning was permitted beginning October 15th of each year providing a permit was obtained. Due to recent changes to the City of Courtenay Fire Protective Services Bylaw which prohibits outdoor burning,
all burning permits previously issued have been cancelled.
The City of Courtenay encourages residents to use the weekly unlimited yard waste collection service provided to each home as an environmentally friendly alternative to burning.
