Rotary Trail now open
Courtenay's network of parks and trails just got a little bigger. The newly opened Rotary Trail connects 5th Street and Cumberland Road, along the E & N Rail Corridor.
The City partnered with the Island Corridor Foundation and the Courtenay Rotary Club to complete the project, also known as a "rail with trail". Courtenay Rotary raised thousands of dollars and contributed volunteer labour to make the trail a reality.
The grand opening took place on October 29, 2011.

This trail is just the first phase to be completed along the rail corridor in Courtenay. Additional sections will be completed further south, with the second phase between Cumberland Road and 17th Street scheduled to be built in 2012.
