Simms Summer Concerts

Enjoy free outdoor concerts featuring local and regional performers on Sunday evenings throughout the summer. Bring your own lawn chair or blanket and get ready to enjoy great live music at Simms Millennium Park.

All concerts begin at 7 p.m. and last one to two hours. 

June 15 Georgia Strait Big Band 
Enjoy the sound of Big Band music! The band has been together for 18 years and plays a wide selection of exciting, fun and danceable tunes! 
June 22 Cancelled:
Duo of Duos (Anela Kahiamoe & Michael Johnson and Easy Street) 

The Simms Summer Concert staff and volunteers are very sad to hear of the passing of Anela Kahiamoe, an amazing community spirited musician. We send sincere condolences to his family and friends. The Duo of Duos concert that was featuring Anela and others, scheduled for this Sunday, June 22, is cancelled.
July 6 Fiddelium A high-energy and award winning youth fiddle group featuring traditional and contemporary folk music. 
July 13 Spanish Boots This 5-piece ensemble plays irresistibly danceable rhythms interwoven with Latin, rock and blues styles. 
July 20 Blues jam (various artists) Enjoy a great evening of the blues with some of the Valley's talented players!
July 27  Time Well Wasted A 10-piece horn-driven powerhouse band playing rock, R&B, pop and dance music classics and modern hits.
August 10 Stealing Dan Enjoy an ultra-authentic homage to the great pop-jazz band Steely Dan!
August 17 Shotgun Kelly A seasoned tribute band putting their hearts into the music and bringing a selection of tunes from Adele to AC/DC.
August 24 The Doobie Brothers Experience (concert includes a food bank drive) Enjoy a masterful celebration of The Doobie Brothers music! This band brings top flight performances of the greatest hits including "What a Fool Believes," "Takin' it to the Streets," "Minute by Minute" and more. This concert also features a food bank drive.

Spanish Boots takes the stage on July 13

[Courtenay, B.C.] [July 4, 2025] – Get ready to dance as Spanish Boots takes the stage for the next Simms Summer Concerts on Sunday, July 13, at 7 p.m.

This Vancouver Island-based five-piece is a dynamic fusion of Latin grooves and rock and blues energy. With members from Mexico, Ecuador and Canada, Spanish Boots blends slick, soulful Santana-style rhythms with driving blues, rock, cumbia and more. Vocalist Carolina Viteri sings in both Spanish and English, backed by Sebastian Robles Servin on guitar, Oscar Robles Diaz on drums, Brittany Christina Bowman on bass and Glenn Jamison on keys.

The concert will run until approximately 8:30 p.m. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and enjoy the music in the riverside setting of Simms Millennium Park, located by the 5th Street Bridge and across from Lewis Park.

The free Simms Summer Concerts continue most Sundays at 7 p.m. through July and August. Upcoming performances include Blues Jam (various artists) on July 20, Time Well Wasted on July 27, Stealing Dan on August 10 and Shotgun Kelly on August 17. The final concert is the Doobie Brothers Experience on August 24, which will also feature a food bank drive.


Blues jam brings cool grooves and hot licks to Simms Park on Sunday, July 20

[Courtenay, B.C.] [July 10, 2025] – Get ready for an evening of powerhouse performances as some of the Comox Valley’s top blues musicians take the stage at Simms Summer Concerts on Sunday, July 20, at 7 p.m.

Hosted by Daryl Duus and the Gentlemen of Leisure, the blues jam will feature a rotating lineup of 10 guest artists, backed by the Gentlemen of Leisure rhythm section. This showcase of local blues talent will serve up a mix of smooth, soulful and gritty tunes — a treat for fans of both cool blues and hot licks.

Audience members are invited to “look the part” and wear their best blues hat. A prize will be awarded at the end of the night for the most bonafide blues look.
