Courtenay Recreation is looking for fun and energetic individuals who enjoy working with children to join our team as program instructors specializing in scootering and/or skateboarding. This is a great opportunity if you share our Core Values, have a desire to continue to learn and grow in the job, are committed to serving the public, and enjoy team work and collaboration. This is a non-union, casual position responsible for working with children 5-13 years old, in structured and unstructured environments.
Reporting to the Youth Services Supervisor, the instructor will be responsible for:
- planning, organizing and implementing a quality program enjoyable for all participants
- the safety and wellbeing of registered participants at all times
- familiarity in skate park safety and etiquette is an asset
- providing high level of front line customer service including greeting and engaging participants
Applicants must have experience working with these ages, be willing to work evenings and weekends, be proficient in their skills of scootering and/or skateboarding (minimum two years of experience) and have a clean criminal record check. Current first aid certification is considered an asset.
