City of Courtenay 2023 Holiday Hours

During the upcoming holiday closure, City Hall will be physically closed, but rest assured, our online services will remain accessible for your convenience. Additionally, essential emergency services will continue to operate seamlessly, ensuring the safety and well-being of our community throughout the festive period.

City Hall will be closed to the public during the holidays, but essential services and online services will still be available.

City Hall will be closed to public access from Monday, December 25 until Monday, January 1, and will resume regular operations on Tuesday, January 2, 2024.

Online Services Available

The City offers a number of online services, including:

• Courtenay Collects App provides updates and reminders for curbside collection, including Green Can and recycling.
• Report non-urgent items by completing an online Service Request Form for:
• Vandalism on Public Property
• Garbage and Recycling Pick up
• Potholes/Road Maintenance
• Sidewalks/Pathways
• Street lights and Signal
• Trees
• Underground utilities
• Bylaw violation? Submit an online Bylaw Complaint Form with the specifics, including your address.
• To make a property tax payment online following these Online Tax Payment Steps. A reminder that December 31 is an important tax deadline if you haven’t already paid your 2023 property tax or claimed a home owner grant.

Courtenay Recreation Holiday Hours

The Lewis Centre, Florence Filberg Centre and The LINC Youth Centre are open regular hours over the holidays except for the following dates:

• Christmas Eve Sunday December 24 - Closed at 12:00 pm
• Christmas Day Monday December 25 - Closed
• Boxing Day Tuesday December 26 - Closed
• New Year’s Eve Sunday December 31 - Closed at 3:00 pm
• New Year’s Day Monday January 1 – Closed

Building Inspections

No inspections the week of December 25th – January 1st. Inspections may be booked again as of January 2, 2024.

Public Works Holiday Hours:

• Christmas Day Monday, December 25 - Closed
• Boxing Day Tuesday, December 26 - Closed

• Regular Office Operations December 27, 28 & 29 – Open
• New Year’s Day Monday, January 1 – Closed

Public Works Emergency Call Service

For sewer, water, drainage, or road emergencies, call the Public Works Services After-Hours Line at 250-334-2947.

Fire and Other Emergency Services:

• The Courtenay Volunteer Fire Department will be on-call for emergency services. Call 9-1-1.
