Description:

Courtenay Recreation is looking for fun and energetic experienced individuals who enjoy working with children, youth and adults to join our Sports Instructor and Facilitator Team!

Under the general guidance and direction of the Assistant Manager of Active Living Recreation, the sport instructor and facilitator is responsible for the planning, organization, facilitation and delivery of recreation sport programs for ages 0-99 years. Specifically, this position leads and facilitates beginner to intermediate level sports programs and plays an integral role in their delivery. All sport instructors are responsible for the direct supervision, safety, and instruction to participants and volunteers while promoting healthy lifestyle choices. Sport programs are facilitated both on and off-site and candidates must be comfortable supervising participants in those settings.

We are hiring for 0-20 hours per week. Wages range from $17.00-$30.00/hour + 4% in lieu. You will also qualify for our generous employee wellness program and a variety of professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

Education Requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent
  • First Aid Level 1 & CPR C & AED
  • Satisfactory Criminal Record Check
  • Physical Literacy certificate/training or experience

 

Complimentary Qualifications:
  • NCCP Certifications
  • High Five Certificate
  • Certificates or degree in in recreation, education, and/or sport

 

Experience:

  • Experience instructing and/or assisting in the instruction of sports programs in a competitive and/or recreation environment
  • Applicants must have previous experience working with various age groups: Children, Youth and/or Adults
  • Applicants must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff and the public
