Courtenay Recreation is looking for fun and energetic individuals who enjoy working with children and youth to join our dynamic Summer Camp Team!

Develop your leadership, programming and facilitation skills while delivering summer camps to children ages 3-18 years! Continue to learn and grow in the field of recreation while enjoying team work, collaboration and serving the public!

Our camp leaders work in a variety of summer camp areas including: sports, cooking, STEM, performing arts, culture, hobbies and outdoor activities. All leaders are responsible for the direct supervision, safety, and instruction to participants and volunteers while promoting healthy lifestyle choices through the planning and incorporation of physical activities and educational components. Summer programs are facilitated both on and off site and candidates must be comfortable supervising participants in those settings.

We are hiring for up to 40 hours per week June 19th – September 1st.  Wages range from $16.00-$23/hour + 4% in lieu. You will also qualify for our generous employee wellness program and a variety of professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Applicants must be available to work from June 19th through to September 1st, 2023 between the hours of 7:45 am and 5:30 pm; Monday to Friday;
  • Completed Grade 12;
  • Applicants must have First Aid and CPR C certification;
  • A class 4 BC driver’s license, High Five, Physical Literacy Training, Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Food Safe, & NLS certifications are an asset;
  • Applicants must have previous experience working with children;
  • Applicants must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with program participants, volunteers, staff and the public
