Recycling and Garbage

The City of Courtenay’s solid waste collection service is aimed at reducing the volume of landfill waste by diverting reclaimable materials at the curb. Curbside collection includes garbage, recycling, and yard waste.

Households are permitted one (1) garbage container per week.

**Please place garbage, yard waste and recycling out by 8:00 a.m. on collection days.**

Add-A-Day Calendar

As the regional landfill operated by Comox Strathcona Waste Management is closed on statutory holidays, there is no curbside collection on those days.

With the “Add-A-Day” collection calendar, curbside pickup in each of the five collection zones shifts by one weekday after every statutory holiday throughout the year.

No Loose Items

To protect waste collection workers, all waste for roadside pickup must be bagged and securely tied - no loose items should be placed in curbside garbage containers. Your garbage will not be collected if there are loose unbagged items. Please properly bag items and place your garbage back out on your next garbage collection day.
