City of Courtenay facilities will be closed on Friday, September 30 to acknowledge the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation and reflect on the impacts of the residential school system on survivors, their families, and communities. Every Child Matters design by Andy Everson, Northwest Coast Artist. As per the artist’s guidance for the use of this design, the City of Courtenay is making a contribution to the Indian Residential School Survivors Society.

Facility closures include:

  • City Hall
  • Courtenay Recreation Florence Filberg Centre
  • Courtenay Recreation Lewis Centre
  • The LINC Youth Centre
  • Public Works Yard
  • Courtenay Fire Hall

Reminder: there is no curbside collection on the National Day of of Truth and Reconciliation on Friday, September 30. Collection for all zones shifts by one day, with garbage and yard waste collection for Zone 1 happening on Monday, October 3.

Fire and Other Emergency Services:

• The Courtenay Volunteer Fire Department will be on-call for emergency services. Call 9-1-1.

• The Public Works Yard will be on-call for emergency services. Call 250-334-2947.
