Courtenay Recreation and Downtown Courtenay BIA staff are busy preparing for the biggest Christmas Party in the Valley! Entry is FREE and the event also features a food bank drive, cash and non-perishable goods will be accepted.

Schedule:

  • Gnarly Little Christmas Craft Fair: 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. – Upper Native Sons Hall
  • Captain Thunderpants Christmas Sing along – 10:30 am to 11:15 am Lower Native Sons Hall
  • Santa & Mrs. Claus pictures – 11:15 am – Lower Native Sons Hall
  • Akron the Barbarian Juggling Lessons – Noon to 1:00 p.m. – Lower Native Sons Hall
  • DCBIA Christmas Parade: 2 p.m. – 5th Street, starting at Fitzgerald Ave

The Annual Gnarly Little Youth Christmas Craft Fair welcomes everyone to come see the great stuff youth are making and selling. This popular event features over 40 vendors 9 – 19 years selling stocking stuffers, painting, photography, jewelry, art-cards, baking & more. Admission is free but please bring cash only for purchases from vendors. Alexis Forbes, youth services coordinator at the LINC says of the fair, “The youth bring an impressive amount of skill and creativity to the fair, it’s great that this year we will be at the Native Sons Hall in the middle of the Christmas celebrations downtown. The lower level of the Native Sons Hall features Captain Thunderpants at 10:30 a.m. singing Christmas Carols and getting everyone ready for the arrival of our very special guest from the North Pole. Santa & Mrs. Claus will be arriving around 11:15 a.m. and will be posing for pictures and handing out delicious goodies. Bring your camera to capture the magic. Akron the Barbarian will be hosting a Juggling workshop from noon to 1:00 p.m. in the Lower Native Sons Hall then moving to 5th Street to entertain the crowd

The Winter Wonderland Christmas Parade promises to be a great community celebration for everyone! The parade travels from Fitzgerald to Cliffe Avenue on 5th Street. The event committee welcomes additional float registrants to join in the parade and showcase their business or group. Applications can be downloaded at www.downtowncourtenay.com
