Celebrate Youth Week at The LINC!
BC Youth Week is May 1–7 and The LINC Youth Centre invites Comox Valley youth to come and enjoy events throughout the week! Youth Week is an annual international event celebrating the value, diversity and positive contributions youth make in their communities.
All Youth Week events are at The LINC, 300 Old Island Highway, except where noted.Doors open at 3 p.m. for drop-in and Youth Week activities will begin shortly thereafter. FREE drop-in is featured throughout Youth Week. Here’s a snapshot of the week’s events:
-Thursday, May 1: Outdoor Dodgeball Tournament (14 to 18 years) and BBQ (11 years and over). Drop-in to play or sign-up for the tournament by email at jlee@courtenay.ca
-Friday, May 2 ($10 pre-register): Extreme Rec Night for 11 years and over (various locations) featuring archery tag, rock climbing, dodgeball, swimming, pizza snacks and more. More info: courtenay.ca/extremerec
-Saturday, May 3 (free admission): Gnarly Spring Craft Fair featuring youth vendors 9 to 19 years from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Native Sons Hall.
-Saturday, May 3 (11 years and over): Youth Clothing Swap! Bring clean, lightly used articles of clothing.
-Sunday, May 4 (all ages): Free family drop-in at the LINC from 4 to 7 p.m.
-Tuesday, May 6 (11 years and over): Outdoor Guided Art Night, painting and drawing a variety of animals.
-Wednesday, May 7 (free admission): Youth Week mini-golf wrap-up party from 4 to 8 p.m. Finish a round and add your name and score to the leaderboard for prizes. Includes snacks and giveaways!
“Youth Week is always a great celebration at The LINC,” says Allie Parry, community youth development supervisor, “We’ll have free drop-in, daily prizes and swag throughout the week. For those who haven’t been to The LINC before, it’s a great time to come see what it’s about!”
