Dingwall Road Temporary Closure

May 27, 2013

Dingwall Road off Highway 19A will be temporarily closed for road repairs next week. From Monday, June 3 to Wednesday, June 5, City of Courtenay crews will be working on Dingwall between Highway 19A and McQuillan Road. Dingwall will be closed to vehicle traffic from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm each day, weather permitting.

James Nixon, the City’s assistant manager of roads and parks, advised the closure is necessary to maintain the safety of both the public and work crews. “That section of Dingwall Road is very narrow,” said Nixon. “It will be safer for all concerned to keep vehicle traffic to an absolute minimum.”

During the closure, crews will make every effort to maintain local traffic for residents living on Dingwall Road between Highway 19A and McQuillan Road. Emergency vehicles will also still have access.

All other vehicles will need to use alternate routes.

The work is necessary to repair damage caused by an earlier water main break. At the time, the road received temporary repairs until more permanent repairs could be made.

This week, signs are going up at several locations in the area to inform drivers of the upcoming work. The public is asked to obey all signs and flag personnel.  The repairs will generate noise from crews and equipment working in the area. The City is requesting the public’s patience during the repairs, and extends its thanks for their cooperation and patience.
