Courtenay Riverway Reopened

Update 3:10 pm: The Courtenay Riverway walkway has reopened to the public.

11:00 am: Courtenay Riverway Temporary Closure

The Courtenay Riverway walkway has been closed off at both ends of the Courtenay Airpark. A small plane overshot the runway on the north end near the Courtenay Marina; thankfully, we understand the plane’s occupants are unhurt.

The waterfront walkway will be closed while the investigation into the incident is underway. We don’t yet know the duration of the walkway closure.

The inland route (west side of the airpark) is open.
