Road Closure on Cliffe Ave. at 2nd Street this Wednesday

Courtenay’s Cliffe Avenue at 2nd Street will be closed on Wednesday, August 5 for a municipal utilities project. The closure between 7:00 am & 5:00 pm is to facilitate the replacement of a sanitary sewer.

Detour routes will be in place and traffic control personnel will direct vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists within the work area.  Northbound traffic will be routed through 3^rd Street to Riverside Lane and onto 1^st Street, and southbound traffic onto 1^st Street to Duncan Avenue.

The detour route will require temporary removal of the concrete barriers on 1^st Street at Cliffe Avenue to allow traffic to proceed westbound to Duncan Avenue. The barriers will be replaced immediately after Cliffe Avenue is re-opened to through traffic.

2 ^nd Street between Duncan & Cliffe Avenue, and Cliffe Avenue between 1^st & 3^rd Streets will be restricted to local traffic only.

The City is delivering notices about the project to area residents and businesses. The City thanks area residents and commuters for their understanding and patience during the road work.
