Manhole Upgrade Project Along Comox Road and Highway 19A Bypass

October 16, 2017

The City of Courtenay will be upgrading the existing manholes along Comox Road (Dyke Road) and the Highway 19A bypass. The work zone is between Ryan Road and the City of Courtenay boundary, just past the former Fields Sawmill site, at the Kus-kus-sum lands.

The existing manholes sit below the floodplain. This project will raise the manholes above the floodplain, reducing risks associated with infiltration.

The project is scheduled to begin on Thursday, October 19, with completion expected by Friday, October 27. Work will take place between 7:00 am – 5:00 pm on weekdays.

Vehicle traffic will periodically be affected within the work area. The work may encroach onto the vehicle travel lane, however, both travel lanes will remain open. Traffic control personnel will be on site to direct vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists within the work area.
