Upcoming Traffic Impacts on Section of 5th Street

October 10, 2019

From Wednesday, October 16 to Friday October 18, 5th Street between Leighton Avenue and Fitzgerald Avenue will be reduced to single-lane alternating traffic while the contractor completes video inspections of underground storm and sanitary sewers. There will also be intermittent full road closures on this section of 5th Street throughout the day as work progresses.

The work may also result in temporary closures to sections of sidewalk and bike lanes in and around work zones.

This inspection is part of the overall warranty certification for the 5th Street Complete Street project. The inspection will verify whether new underground utilities installed in 2018 are functioning as intended, and ensure that any necessary adjustments or repairs are completed at no cost to the City. The inspection is expected to be completed by October 18, weather permitting.

During these lane closures, there may be additional minor road repairs in the area, depending on the weather and contractor availability.

Traffic control personnel will be on hand to assist all commuters and emergency vehicles.  Detour signage will be posted throughout the work site.

Thank you for your understanding and patience while the inspection is completed.
