Courtenay Recreation Program and Facility Updates due to Snow

Saturday, January 18, 2020, 7:50 a.m.:

Courtenay Recreation Saturday update: The Lewis Centre is open and gymnastics and fitness programs are mostly running today, with one exception so far. Please stay tuned for further cancellations as we get updates.

Saturday Cancellations:

  • Kindergym with Trampoline at 9 a.m.
  • Mini-Chefs at 9:30 a.m.

Updated Friday, January 17, 2020 2:35 p.m.:

The Lewis Centre and Filberg Centre are OPEN. Cozy Corner and Adapted Programs are cancelled for the entire day.

The following Friday evening programs are cancelled:

  • Learn to make Sushi 6:00 p.m.
  • Circus Aerial Arts: The Basics 3:30 p.m.
  • Circus Aerial Arts: Intermediate/Advanced 4:30 p.m.
  • Circus Aerial Arts: Advanced 5:30 p.m.
  • Circus Open Training drop-in 7:15 p.m.
  • Family Sport Drop-In Night 5:30 p.m. - open gym will be available, but no instructor or organized activities

 

What are Courtenay Recreation’s program cancellation procedures during snow events?

As long as there are no road closure or travel advisories, programs will run as planned.

If school is cancelled then both Adapted Programs and Cozy Corner will be cancelled for the day. Having said this, there are exceptions, as some instructors and contractors do not feel safe to travel in snowy conditions. Therefore, patrons are encouraged to reference our website and Facebook page for updates.

Thursday, January 16, 2020, 11:45 a.m.:

Courtenay Recreation Thursday Snow Update:

The Lewis Centre and Filberg Centre are OPEN. The Filberg's Evergreen Lounge kitchen is not open for food service today.

Programs after 12:00 noon are running as scheduled. Cozy Corner and Adapted Programs are cancelled for the entire day.

* Family Paint Night tonight has been moved from the Salish Building to the Lewis Centre Craft Room B.

Wednesday January 15, 5:30 p.m.:

The LINC Youth Centre has closed for the night as of 5:00 pm.

Due to the weather conditions, the Courtenay Recreation Lewis Centre will be closing at 6:00 pm tonight, Wednesday January 15. All programs tonight will be CANCELLED.

The following Courtenay Rec programs have been CANCELLED today, Wednesday January 15, due to snow:

-Beginner Line Dancing at 1:00 p.m. (Lewis Centre)
-Adapted Programs Bowling League at 3:00 p.m. (Codes Country Lanes)
-Piano Adventures (5 - 7 yrs) at 4:00 p.m. (Tsolum Building)
-Piano Adventures (8 - 11 yrs) at 5:00 p.m. (Tsolum Building)
-Handstand Class at 5:00 p.m. (Lewis Centre)
-Chiseled with Nancy Victoria at 5:15 p.m. (Lewis Centre)
-Youth Aerials at 6:30 p.m. (Lewis Centre)
-Adult Aerials at 7:30 p.m. (Lewis Centre)
-Drums Alive Power Beats at 7:00 p.m. (Native Sons Hall)
