Upcoming Paving on Cumberland Road

September 10, 2021

Rescheduled due to weather. Revised project start date: October 4, 2021

------------------------------------------------------------

Improvements on a section of Cumberland Road are nearing completion, with paving work planned in September.

The work will include new pavement and bike lane markings between the Willemar Avenue roundabout and Piercy Avenue, and will be the final piece of this improvement project. Previous work has included new pedestrian curb extensions at 14th & 16th Streets, and new pedestrian-controlled flashing beacons adjacent to Woodcote Park, improving access and comfort for people traveling on foot along this corridor.

Weather permitting, road work and traffic impacts are scheduled in the following locations:

  • Monday to Wednesday, September 13 to 15: Willemar Avenue to west side of 14th Street
  • Monday to Wednesday, September 20 to 22: 14th Street to Piercy Avenue
  • Thursday September 23: Willemar to Piercy Avenues

During construction, the work zones will be closed to vehicle traffic and on-street parking will be restricted within the work area. Commuters should expect temporary road closures and detours.

Traffic control personnel will be on site to assist emergency services, vehicles, pedestrians, and cyclists.

The Canada Community-Building Fund is providing $500,000 towards road resurfacing and curb extensions on this project.

Thank you for your understanding while crews perform these upgrades.
