Courtenay Recreation is looking for fun and energetic individuals who enjoy working with children and youth to join our team as Program Leaders. This is a great opportunity if you share our Core Values, have a desire to continue to learn and grow in the job, are committed to serving the public, and enjoy teamwork and collaboration. This is a non-union, casual position responsible for working with children 0 - 18 years old, in structured and unstructured environments.
Program leaders are expected to:
- Establish and maintain a safe environment
- Setup all chairs, tables, supplies & equipment
- Take attendance
- Plan & lead activities
- Have the ability to deal with challenging behaviour, resolve conflicts and deal with group dynamics
- Communicate effectively with participants, parents, and city staff.
Applicants must have experience working with children and/or youth, possess strong communication and public relation skills, have experience planning and leading recreational programs and have a valid emergency first aid certification. Preference will be given to candidates with Food Safe Level 1, High 5, Fundamental Movement Skills, & Crisis Intervention Certification.
Wage ranges from $15-$18 depending on certifications and experience.
