ParticipACTION Community Challenge
Courtenay Recreation is inviting everyone to get moving this June as part of the ParticipACTION Community Challenge.
The Community Challenge is a nationwide physical activity initiative that encourages individuals, organizations and communities across Canada to get active. At the end of the challenge, one community will be named Canada’s Most Active Community and receive $100,000 to support local sport and physical activity initiatives.
The challenge runs June 1 to 30 and is open to all Canadians. Organizations can register their activities, programs and events on the ParticipACTION website and track their progress. Individuals can also join by pledging to be active throughout the month, helping boost Courtenay’s overall score.
Courtenay Recreation will offer a variety of activities during June, including free fitness classes, archery, family gymnastics, pickleball lessons and other fun events.
“We’re excited to bring the community together through movement,” said Nicole Spooner, Active Living Programmer with the City of Courtenay. “Whether you’re trying a new activity or joining a group event, it’s a great way to boost your health, meet new people and celebrate being active in Courtenay.”
To add to the fun, Courtenay Recreation is also hosting a photo contest. Share a photo of yourself being active during the challenge and tag it with #CourtenayInAction for a chance to win a prize!
