5th Street Bridge: Work Shifts to Final Lane on Thursday

December 15, 2021

THE HOME STRETCH: The final phase of work on the 5th Street Bridge starts Thursday December 16 now that the first lane of concrete has cured and can accommodate vehicle traffic.

Single-lane alternating traffic will soon shift to the newly poured lane. Crews will now remove the old overlay on the south lane of the bridge and repairs will be made to the deck in preparation for the install of a new overlay. A final concrete pour will be followed by fresh line paint.

Large vehicles are encouraged to continue using alternate routes. The bridge is expected to reopen to two-way vehicle traffic in January 2022.

With the shift in traffic pattern, please follow the signage and traffic control measures in place, and slow down to keep workers safe.
