Cooling Options in Courtenay

Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for East Vancouver Island, with daytime high temperatures ranging from 29 to 35 degrees combined with overnight lows in the mid to upper teens. Here are a few options to cool down in Courtenay over the next few days:
In partnership with the Comox Valley Transition Society for residents experiencing homelessness or who are inadequately sheltered, a Cooling Centre will be available:
Florence Filberg Centre (downstairs)
Wednesday to Friday, August 11 to 13: 1:30 to 6 p.m.
New: Saturday, August 14: 12 noon to 6 p.m.
Masks are recommended in indoor public settings for all people 12 and older who are not yet fully vaccinated.
Rotary Water Park at Lewis Park: Water park hours extended Wednesday August 11 through Sunday August 15, open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. each day. www.courtenay.ca/waterpark
Outdoor Pool and Wading Pool: The outdoor pool and wading pool at Lewis Park are great ways to cool down. For schedule information visit www.courtenay.ca/pool
