Courtenay Recreation: Fitness and Dance Classes Resuming the Week of January 24

January 21, 2022

Courtenay Recreation Update: As recent Public Health Orders (PHO) allow fitness classes to resume, all registered and drop-in fitness and dance programs will start the week of January 24 as scheduled. In accordance with new guidelines in the Public Health Order the following modifications will be in place:

  • Physical distance of seven square meters will be designated per person. Two metres between each patron is recommended while exercising.
  • Proof of vaccination is required for all participants 12 years or older in indoor exercise, fitness, and dance class facilities – Please note: as per PHO – you must produce a QR code for scanning and those 19 years and over will need to show government issued ID.
  • To reduce congregating – enter the facility no more than 5 minutes in advance of your class.
  • Maximum occupancy of 25 people per workout room/space.
  • Instructors will remain in a designated “instructor area” throughout the class and give verbal rather than hands-on corrections for yoga/barre/Pilates, etc.
  • Masks must be worn at all times in exercise facilities by both patrons and instructors except when exercising. Please note that while not mandatory, masks are recommended while exercising.

Please remember to bring your punchcard or membership with you to be scanned upon entry to drop-in classes.

Thank you for your patience as we continue adjusting to the details involved in Public Health Order requirements.
