Description:

The City of Courtenay invites applications for the position of "Activity Leader 2”.

An Activity Leader 2 may work with a team or independently, and is responsible assisting in the planning, facilitation, and implementation of recreation programs to a variety of age groups.  Recreation Programming categories include:  sports, arts, special interest, cooking, dance, and more.  Activity Leaders will ensure the safety and confidentiality of all participants, take attendance, and perform program set up and take down.  Hours of work will vary from 0-35 hours a week, and may include evenings, weekdays, and weekends. 

Minimum Requirements

  • High school diploma preferred but not required
  • Criminal Records Check
  • High Five Principles of Healthy Childhood Development (recommended)
  • Level 1 First Aid or willing to obtain
  • Food Safe or willing to obtain
  • Experience in a recreation, or sports setting, or working with children
  • Experience working with people of variety of ages and abilities
  • As this position may work independently, they must be a minimum o f16 years of age to meet Employment Standards
  • Have a strong commitment to providing recreational programming
  • Familiar with basic programming planning frameworks
  • Ability to facilitate programs while maintaining participant safety
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to actively participate in recreation programming
  • Willing to be available for daytime hours and work a flexible schedule Monday - Sunday

Wage range is between $21.75 and $23.75 per hour, depending on experience.  Hours are day time and weekends.
