Lawn Sprinkling Permit
During Stage 1 and Stage 2 water restrictions, a lawn sprinkling permit can be purchased to water newly sodded and seeded lawns.
Lawn sprinkling permits are unavailable during Stage 3 and Stage 4 water restrictions.
Lawn sprinkling permits can be purchased at Courtenay City Hall.
If you are unable to come to Courtenay City Hall, contact 250-334-4441 (extension "0") or finance@courtenay.ca. City staff will provide you with instructions.
The Lawn Sprinkling Permit is valid within the City of Courtenay for the following:
- Seed: 49 day permit
- Sod: 21 day permit
During the term of the permit, the permit holder may sprinkle new sod or newly seeded lawn at the following times:
- 5 a.m. to 8 a.m.
- 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.
- Any time, if watering is done by a handheld hose equipped with an automatic shut-off nozzle.
Lawn sprinkling permit fee: $30
Payment can be made through one of the following options:
- Make a cash, cheque or debit payment at City Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
- Send a credit card payment through our online portal. Please allow up to five days for the payment to be received.
- Mail a cheque to City of Courtenay, 830 Cliffe Avenue, Courtenay, BC, V9N 2J7.
Lawn sprinkling permits are cancelled and unavailable for purchase during Stage 3 and Stage 4 water restrictions.
