I first gained interest in fitness as a young teen by participating in running track, dance, and other various sports. The need to build muscle and get stronger (I was very skinny) sparked an interest which quickly developed into a passion. Since then, I’ve dedicated my career to understanding the most effective ways to build lean muscle mass, improve muscular endurance, and increase strength – all through resistance training. This career path was the obvious choice for me as I have a natural ability to teach people and motivate them to understand and trust the training methods I have learnt in my more than two decades as a personal trainer. This knowledge has helped me design effective, goal-oriented training programs, which are easy to understand, manageable, and most importantly – fun!

Training Specialties:

  •   Cardio-Kickboxing

Growing up in Red Deer, I developed a love for sport and fitness while in school, including competitive kickboxing – which I did for four years. Once both my kids were in school, I set out to find a career that was both fulfilling and still allowed me to still be a full-time mom.
I attended my first fitness class in 2005 and was immediately sold, as I had the best time, and instantly knew I wanted to teach. I went on to complete the fitness theory and physiology courses and then, I moved on and earned certifications in weight training, spin, group fitness, and personal training. I quickly developed a passion for working with seniors, so I took more courses and earned both my 3rd Age and Aqua-Fit certifications.
I’ve been working with Courtenay Recreation since 2013, and my favorite part about being a personal trainer is seeing participants gain confidence and reach their goals. I love seeing how happy my clients are when they see progress, and it makes me feel so good to be able to help them with their fitness journey.

My fitness career started in my early twenties, teaching aerobic dance and fitness classes at the YMCA in Brandon, Manitoba. Shortly after, I worked as a fitness supervisor for the Manitoba Fitness Council, where I certified instructors. I furthered my education by attending Brandon University, and earning my Bachelor’s in Sport and Recreation, with a minor in Rehab. I then went on to become a certified CanFitPro personal trainer, and eventually a CanFitPro Trainer of Trainers for Fitness, Personal Training, and Old Age Fitness disciplines.
I really enjoy teaching classes, especially my spin and chiseled programs we run here at the Lewis Centre. I love watching my clients and participants become more physically fit and make positive changes in their lives.

Signi Caine

Personal Trainer, Weight Training, Third Age, Group Fitness
Training Specialties:
      • Step
      • Resistance Training
      • Older Adult Fitness
      • Spin
      • Core Conditioning

I have been involved in the fitness industry for many years, starting with earning my Bachelor’s of Recreation Studies, then moving on to working as an Adaptive and Youth Recreation Programmer at the YMCA in Winnipeg. Alongside both positions, I was a group fitness and aqua fit instructor until my fourth child was born. While raising my kids, I remained connected to the fitness world through yoga, running, and fitness classes. After my youngest child graduated high school, I went back to “school” myself and earned five BCRPA certifications in one year.
I feel very fortunate to be part of the Lewis Centre Personal Training Team. I enjoy working with all ages but particularly with older adults. I like to focus on functional fitness and core training with my clients. I absolutely love my job and the feeling of being able to help people achieve their fitness goals.
