Sandwick Watermain Upgrades Project

Hazelwood Construction Services Inc., working on behalf of the City of Courtenay, will be installing new fire hydrants, and the upgraded watermains to service these hydrants, in five residential neighbourhood locations throughout the Sandwick water distribution area as follows:

•     North Island Hwy Frontage Road and Cotton Rd

•     Oakridge Drive

•     Muir Road and Cherry Ridge Drive

•     Reinhard Place

•     Kirkland Road

These upgrades will improve access to fire suppression equipment in your neighbourhood and ensure the water infrastructure meets regulatory standards. Following construction, the new infrastructure will provide the required water flow to the new fire hydrants without impacting neighbourhood property service.

Construction activities are planned to begin within the coming weeks at the North Island Hwy Frontage Road site and will be contained within the existing municipal road right-of-ways at the project sites identified, above. Expect single-lane alternating traffic at each project site while work is underway. Access to properties at all project sites will be maintained throughout the duration of the work.
