Recreation, Culture and Community Services

We provide safe, inclusive and accessible recreation, cultural and community programs for all ages and abilities.

Our department includes:

  • Recreation facility operations – Manages and maintains recreational facilities.
  • Recreation programming – Plans and delivers programs, activities and events.
  • Recreation and cultural business services – Supports the administration of recreation and cultural programs.
  • Community services – Connects residents with resources and supports community initiatives.

We also:

  • Work with cultural facilities and organizations, including the Courtenay Recreation Association (CRA) and the Evergreen Club.
  • Manage park and sports field bookings.
  • Plan for the future of parks, recreation, culture, and community services.

Courtenay Recreation offers a variety of programs and services for the community. Our facilities include:

  • Florence Filberg Centre
  • Lewis Centre
  • Native Sons Hall
  • LINC Youth Centre
  • Parks buildings

We provide:

  • Programs for all ages and interests
  • Event rentals for gatherings of any size
  • Special events
  • Wellness Centre at the Lewis Centre with modern equipment and extended hours.

We work with the City’s cultural facilities, including:

  • Sid Williams Theatre
  • Comox Valley Art Gallery
  • Courtenay and District Museum
  • Comox Valley Arts Council
