Dog licensing

2025 dog licences for the City of Courtenay are now available.

All dogs over six months old living in the City of Courtenay must be licensed. Licences expire each year on December 31 and must be renewed annually.

Dogs must wear their licence tag on a collar or harness at all times. Each household can have up to three dogs.

How to get a dog licence

You can get a dog licence and pay in one of these ways:

  • In person: Pay at Courtenay City Hall, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Mail a cheque:

When you pay, include:

  • your name, address and phone number
  • your dog’s name, breed, colour and gender

If this is your first licence, include proof from your vet if your dog has been spayed or neutered.
