The City of Courtenay has begun the process of installing a new playground at Woodcote Park. This project will replace the former play structures with a modern, inclusive, and engaging play space. The Woodcote Park playground renewal project was developed with community engagement and follows the City’s Let’s Play, Courtenay! playground design standards.
The previous equipment has been removed, and the site is now ready for installation of the new features. Drainage improvements and concrete work are currently underway, and the main play structure is expected to be installed by the end of December.
Some important elements, such as the play surface and landscaping, require warmer weather, so those final components will be completed in March 2026. The construction area will remain fenced and closed to the public throughout the winter. The new playground is anticipated to open in April 2026.
