The City of Courtenay is inviting residents to help shape the future of Bill Moore Park and Dogwood Park through a second round of community engagement that will help form a new Strategic Plan. This phase focuses on gathering feedback on draft concepts that will guide future improvements to these important community spaces.
The Strategic Plan will consider Bill Moore Park and Dogwood Park together as one connected park system, including the sports fields, lawn bowling club, playground, Rotary Trail and surrounding green spaces. The plan will help guide future investments by identifying opportunities to improve existing amenities, strengthen connections between park areas, enhance accessibility and safety and support a variety of recreational uses.
This project is being completed in two phases. During the first phase, residents shared their ideas through an online survey, pop-up event and community workshops. Feedback from those activities, along with technical analysis and planning requirements, helped shape a series of draft concepts for the parks.
Residents are now invited to review the draft concepts and provide feedback through a survey and public open house. The open house will take place at the Lewis Centre, located at 489 Old Island Highway, on Tuesday, August 18 from 5 until 8 p.m. The survey is available until September 15, 2026 at the Engage Comox Valley project page. Hard copies are available at City Hall, Lewis Centre, the Linc, Florence Filberg Centre and Courtenay Library.
Feedback collected during this second phase will inform the final direction of the Strategic Plan which will provide a long-term vision for Bill Moore Park and Dogwood Park. The plan aims to protect natural features, improve access and connectivity and ensure the parks continue to meet the needs of residents for years to come.
